Scientists Unearth Remarkable Fossil in Late Triassic Era

A groundbreaking discovery has been made in Brazil, where a 233-million-year-old dinosaur fossil has been unearthed.

The fossil, identified as Herrerasaurus, meaning "Herrera's lizard," belongs to one of the earliest known dinosaurs that roamed our planet during the Late Triassic Era.

A team of paleontologists led by Rodrigo Temp Müller from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) made the incredible discovery. The fossil's age, estimated at 233 million years, makes it one of the oldest undisputed dinosaur fossils on record. Bones from a dinosaur dated to around 231 million years ago are the previous oldest undisputed fossils.

This discovery sheds new light on the early evolution of dinosaurs and provides valuable insights into their origins and diversity.
